The Confucius Institute offers continuing education for Utah secondary teachers through the summer "Gateway to Learning" Program (China, Past and Present) via the Tanner Humanities Center at the University of Utah.
2008 Gateway to Learning Workshop
June 9-13 - China Past and Present
This workshop, team-taught by five China scholars from The University of Utah, will present an intensive introduction to the history and culture of China from ancient times to the present. We will explore the foundations of Confucian ethics and political thought, literary traditions and popular culture, the evolution of the Chinese family and ideas about women and gender, and critical issues in contemporary Chinese society.
